Lost Confidence - A to Z of Hypnotherapy


I’m going to start by saying that you might think a bit controversial – You can’t lose your self-confidence! You might reply to that statement with something like “Well I used to be confident, but I I’m certainly not now, so I must have lost it”. Here’s the thing though, whilst you may have been confident in the past and at this moment you feel unable to be, confidence is not a thing, it can’t be put in a box. Confidence is a state of mind and depending on whether we are in our rational (and confident) or irrational (and worst case scenario) mind, will determine whether of not we have access to it or not.

One statement that I often like to say during a hypnotherapy session goes like this;

It's what we tell ourselves that really affects us in our daily lives … what we tell ourselves really does determine how we feel … so … if we tell ourselves that we feel anxious … worried … fed-up … then that's exactly how we are going to feel … whereas if we tell ourselves that we're going to feel calm … relaxed…confident … and in control of ourselves and our lives … then guess what? … that's how we're going to feel …

And that’s true isn’t it, because what you say to yourself, your body listens to.

Your irrational mind tends to take over when you are feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed and that’s when you can feel like you’ve lost your confidence. This is perhaps why hypnotherapy can be so effective at building up your confidence, as it works to lower stress levels, whilst offering positive suggestions to your subconscious mind about how to handle your life’s challenges in a more confident way.
